With support from the Race Committee (RC), and HOCR office, the primary roles of a member of Race Operations are:
Manage all logistical aspects of their operations committee, especially in the lead up to the regatta
Recruit, communicate with and manage volunteers for their operational committee
Create an After Action Report (AAR) for their committee.
Being a Race Ops chair is a primary commitment. If you are considering other volunteer opportunities, please discuss that with your RC liaison.
In regards to expectations, here is the list of items that involve time commitments:
Attendance at the Race Ops meetings.
Identify one co-chair who will act in the capacity of Volunteer Coordinator and inform your RC liaison.
Complete an After Action Report (AAR).
If you have any questions about these expectations, please have a conversation with your RC liaison or Race Director.
Represent the HOCR as a friendly, responsible, and welcoming volunteer corps.
Treat everyone fairly, regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, political belief, or economic status.
Respect the dignity of competitors and fellow volunteers; no public criticism of either.
No profane, insulting, harassing, or otherwise offensive language while volunteering.
No drugs, alcohol, or tobacco before or during your shift.
Follow the instructions and guidelines given by your Committee Co-Chair.
Report anything contrary to these standards to the HOCR Office.
Conduct is at the discretion of the Managing Directors, including loss of volunteer privileges.
